Robert M. Traynor, Ed.D., MBA, FNAP

For 46 years Dr. Robert M. Traynor (B.A., 1972; MA, 1973; Ed.D., 1975; MBA, 2006) practiced audiology at his clinic, Audiology Associates, Inc., in Greeley, Colorado, where he provided diagnostic & rehabilitative treatment for hearing loss and tinnitus to patients of all ages. He also conducted operative monitoring for otolaryngologists and general surgeons for 25 years at three hospitals in northern Colorado. He has been a frequent lecturer domestically and internationally in over 40 countries on most aspects of Audiology.  As an academic, Dr. Traynor has been an Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor of Audiology and an Audiology Program Director at the University of Northern Colorado and Colorado State University. He is currently an adjunct professor of Audiology for 2 other university audiology programs.   For 17 years, he was the Senior International Audiology Consultant to a major hearing aid manufacturer based in Bern, Switzerland, where he provided technical support to engineers and hearing scientists within the research and development group.  He is a 2017 Fellow of the National Academies of Practice, was presented the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Colorado Academy of Audiology, named a 2018 Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Northern Colorado and the recipient of the Joel Wernick Award from the Academy of Doctors of Audiology in 2019.

Dr. Traynor was part of the Doctor of Audiology online faculty at the University of Florida 1998 – 2020 where he designed and implemented one of the first courses in audiology practice management that is now duplicated across the country. His text, Strategic Practice Management, 3^rd Edition, co-authored with Dr. Robert Glaser, is now used in most audiology training programs.  

Since selling his practice in February 2019, he started two new businesses.  Robert Traynor Audiology, LLC offers professional advice to the hearing industry and provides expert witness services to attorneys for personal injury, criminal and audiology malpractice cases.  The second business is Audiology Exclusive (https://audiologyexclusive.com) a discount site similar to “Groupons” for hearing care professionals.  The deals offered here are on most clinic supplies, books, courses, hearing aids, equipment and other products.

When not teaching or running the businesses Bob hunts with audiology friends, he takes his BMW M-3 to the track with the local (Colorado) National Auto Sport Association group.  He also has a restored 1961 Studebaker that he enters in shows around Colorado.  Ms. Studie, as she is called, was recently featured in the National Studebaker Drivers club Magazine and she has been featured in local and Denver Newspapers, as well as “Playmate of the Month” for February 2020 in a local calendar.
